Marti ne Van Den Bussche-Marty designs jewellery, small decorati ve ob- jects, cards and badges. She also writes arts and craft s books and organises workshops. She specialises in combining diff erent techniques or materials to make up-to-the minute designs which are usually easy for beginners to repro- duce. The Turkestan canvas is typical of her designs which use simple sti tches (cross-sti tch, diamond sti tch) with rapid results enabling decorati ve pictures to be created, thus making embroidery accessible to all, especially those with litt le pati ence. For this design, she has taken her inspirati on from the enchanti ng colours of nature, the elegance of pink fl amingos and geometric moti fs from Japan.
